Well, I've been a bit sporadic (just a bit) with this blog, but I decided to finally sit down and tell you why I will continue to be sporadic in the coming weeks and months. Though in the future I will make effort to post more regularly, I wanted to give a forewarning that through May I may not be here very often. Life is extremely busy, with the normal school load accompanied by speech tournaments, piano competitions, events and friends, and life at home with my family.
Since my last post, there have been many Birthdays in our family and extended family that have been celebrated with joy.
I've continued to work at preparing my speeches and myself for the tournament season. This past week I competed at my first competition, which was a National Open (open to any NCFCA (the league I compete with) participant for the season). It was a fabulous experience, to make new friends, learn speaking skills and to share them with others. I was blessed in my results, and was very happy to break to semi-finals in all of my events, finals in one of the events, and to make 16th place in the Speech Sweepstakes (a recognition of the top 10% of the 380 speech competitors). I head out Sunday afternoon to my second tournament, and I am very excited about that one as well.
Allyson traveled (while I was at the National Open) to a handbell festival with the choir from our choir, and had an exciting weekend on her own for the first time playing handbells and having fun with friends.
It has also been delightful to see how each member of the family is growing in their faith and relationship with others. Friendships between siblings are deepening, and I believe that there is an overall sense of joy in our family right now! I pray that it will continue to be so.
My Dad recently took a new position in his company, that of managing product development (I don't exactly remember all of the details that were involved with it) but what we do all know and understand is that the first few months in that position will require a great deal of traveling. We are not looking forward to many weeks apart from our Daddy, but we know that the new position is a blessing, and we will be looking forward to the weekends that he will be able to share with us.
I can't remember anything else to terribly exciting. It snowed twice and we had a great time sledding. Valentine's Day was a sweet time of encouraging family members. Friendships have grown, and lessons have been learned.
I pray that each one of you will continue to live life to its fullest, and I can't wait to see you again, whenever that may be! :D
Have a wonderful day, week, and month!
Soli Deo Gloria!
