Well this past weekend was a delightfully full time of choir practices and cleaning up around the house. I had some things written up for yesterday's post, and then I happened to get distracted by a speech and some pumpkin bread and I eventually fell asleep. :-) I'll outline what would have been Monday's post here.
Funny thing is, I was going to write about "Mondays". I don't know about you, but I LOVE new beginnings. There are funny images all over the internet about the Monday blues, and the dreaded Monday assignments and classes. I, however, am a Monday girl! On Sunday night I love to clean my room, set out my school books, and prepare for a new battle. No matter what happened with classes or friendships during the previous week, I can't help but feel refreshed each Monday. Coming off of an inspiring time of worship on Sunday as well, my resolve is generally renewed. Even if I completely "wreck it" two hours into Monday morning, that doesn't change the energy and excitement of waking up and knowing that the whole week awaits, and I have the power to make it productive. (and while this is my general mood on Monday mornings, my family would quickly provide evidence that I can pull the sleep-in-and-avoid-reality-for-as-long-as-possible deal as well. Ha-ha.) I'm thankful not only for the day itself, but also the concept which I've seen so many times recently in my own life. Our God is a God of new beginnings. His grace and forgiveness are available whenever we come to Him with our junk and burdens. We can say "I need a Monday morning moment" to God any hour of the week and He will immediately refresh and renew us.
Moving on to today's excerpt....
Have you ever found yourself just staring at the cover of your Bible in the morning, knowing that you should have a quiet time, but unsure of what to read? I often times let my mind wander when I'm supposed to be choosing a particular passage to read and study. Or I open my Bible to Lamentations, Leviticus, or Ezekiel and simply blank out. (not that those books aren't full of delectable passages, but sometimes first thing in the morning I just can't absorb it as well :-) ) In these moments, I am SO happy that the book of Psalms is right there! Not only are Psalms concise passages that won't discourage me from allotting time for a personal study, they are also fantastic at boosting my energy and helping me to praise the Lord. When I'm unsure of what to praise or thank God for, almost every Psalm can fill me with ideas. Some of the Psalms that have particularly ministered to me in recent weeks are Psalm 1, 8, 23, 27, 42, 51, 63, 103, 139, and 150! I know that any one of these would inspire and bless you.
I hope that you will rejoice in new beginnings and the power of the Psalms this week! Thanks for letting me share my life with you. Blessings, Kaitlyn
